Since 2012, Women in Green, an interactive event that features discussions on the topics facing women around the world, has been stirring up a global conversation around the power of women to advance sustainable development and the critical need for women to continue to lead across industries. Year over year, Women in Green proves one of the most well-attended and compelling parts of every Greenbuild show. The upcoming Women in Green luncheon at Greenbuild Europe in Amsterdam will be no exception.

Women in Green Luncheon – Greenbuild Europe
March 20 from 11:30 am–1:30 pm
Movenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre, Amsterdam

Featuring the voices of four incredibly accomplished women, three as panelists and one as a moderator, the luncheon will illuminate different perspectives on the “Culture of Courage” theme.

  • Claudia Gonella (moderator), Marketing and Communications Director, GRESB
  • Francesca Galeazzi, Team Leader for Sustainability and Simulation, WELL AP, ARUP
  • Lonneke Löwik, CEO, INREV
  • Marie Sallois, Director of Corporate Development, Brand and Sustainability, International Olympic Committee

In 2015, the UN reported that only 50 percent of women of working age worldwide were in the labor force, compared with 77 percent of men. On the whole, women are more likely to be unemployed, which usually means they have little or no access to monetary income.

Green building sits at the nexus of so many of the world’s challenges and solutions. It addresses financial and social equity as well as the availability of clean water. It focuses on the delivery of renewable and reliable power and the interconnectivity of cities. It prioritizes the preservation and promotion of human health, nurturing a strong economy, and preserving our natural world.

Addressing issues of income inequality, labor economics, family dynamics, and more will require a renewed culture of courage. The Women in Green platform gives participants a window into the worlds of their peers and mentors and provides a safe space for connection and growth.

As the world marks International Women’s Day, we ask, what does a Culture of Courage mean to you? Join us for Women in Green at Greenbuild Europe (or any of the five Greenbuild events around the world) to join the conversation.
