LEED v4 Rating System Review (BD+C and ID+C)

Understanding the Design and Construction Rating Systems

This five session webinar series will review the technical requirements of the LEED v4 Building Design and Construction rating systems. The series will cover each credit category, touch on every prerequisite and credit, and highlight differences specific to project type adaptations.
LEED for General Contractors & Construction Managers
Resources to support sustainable construction management on a LEED project
Don't Build Here: Site Selection Strategies to Protect our Wild Spaces
This presentation focuses on selecting a sustainable site for building a LEED project. The intended audience for this course includes architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and other design professionals who want to reduce the environmental impact from the site selection process for buildings.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs): Specifying Sustainable Materials to Save the Planet
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) have been gaining fast recognition as the gold standard of product disclosures. We explore the inherent limitations of these tools, and discuss potential strategies for project teams to use EPDs for product specification.
Breathe Easy - Strategies to Support Healthy Indoor Air
In this one-hour course, the participant will discover the importance of high quality indoor air, factors that contribute to quality, and strategies to support the health of construction workers and occupants.

This course counts towards the indoor air quality badge.

Dusk to Dawn: Reducing Light Pollution
In this one-hour course, the design professional will explore the impacts of light pollution, including harm done both to people, and to the environment. Strategies used by LEED projects to achieve SS Credit: Light Pollution Reduction are considered for all LEED BD+C v4 compliance options, including calculation methods and the B.U.G. prescriptive methods to assess compliance for light trespass and sky glow. We conclude with a reference list of lighting terminology.
Every Drop Counts: Water Efficiency in LEED v4

With our world facing unprecedented water scarcity and supply issues, designers and influencers are prioritizing water conserving strategies. In this one-hour course, learners will evaluate water efficiency strategies for flush and flow fixtures, identify uses for nonpotable water, and address optimal operation of process systems including cooling towers.

This course counts towards the water efficiency badge.

LEED for Suppliers
We explore how LEED v4 BD+C affects suppliers and how they can benefit from being prepared with LEED v4 documentation, Supplier HPDs, and LEED education.
Don't Get Soaked: Smart Strategies to Manage Rainwater

Through a series of interviews and case studies, our team explores the process to achieve the Rainwater Management credit utilizing green infrastructure and low-impact development.

This course counts towards the water efficiency badge.

The Empowered Design Professional: Using HPDs to Make Healthier Material Choices
In this one-hour course, our team will discuss how HPDs can contribute to LEED certification, including how to determine if an HPD meets the criteria set by the LEED v4 rating system. We also discuss how design professionals can encourage building product manufacturers to create and publish their HPDs.
