Objectives

  1. Understand hazard exposure, vulnerability, and risk—and how they differ—when it comes to climate change and how it can affect the sustainability and longevity of buildings.
  2. Access tools and other resources that can be used to assess a building’s exposure to nine major climate hazards, helping building owners prepare for climate change through appropriate design choices.
  3. Frame the hazard conversation for clients by introducing the possibility of exposure and helping them plan in a fiscally and environmentally responsible way for the future.
  4. Understand the top three drivers of resilient design: life safety, fiscal responsibility, and sustainability.
