Our nation’s veterans are ideal candidates to help communities meet sustainability goals through a local, grassroots approach. Each Green Veterans network combines training, employment opportunities and outreach to increase diversity in the workforce and bridge income gaps for veterans. This course presents the history, purpose and mission of Green Veterans and provides guidelines to establish a program in your community.

To complete this course, view the video and read the "Green Veterans Implementation Guide" (available under Additional Resources).


  1. Explain the “four pillar” platform for engaging veterans.
  2. Describe examples of sustainability training for veterans.
  3. Identify sustainable building design features that can alleviate post-traumatic stress disorder.
  4. Articulate the steps to launch a Green Veterans group.
