A presentation of current and past research projects demonstrating recent advances in cold climate construction and building systems including permafrost foundations, heating systems, and wall construction. Course will include a tour of the research center, its new building addition, and a UAF student housing research project, Q&A/discussion, and research reports will be provided upon request.


  1. Specify 5 engery efficient wall systems
  2. Specify 2-3 energy efficient foundation systems
  3. Identify pros and cons of at least 4 different heating and ventilation systems
  4. Discuss current research and sustainable projects occurring throughout the state
