The course investigates how acoustic design influences effective communication and occupant well-being. It highlights the role of reverberation and the Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) in creating optimal conditions.

This course is approved for GBCI CE hours, but is not available through Education @USGBC.

Objectives

  1. Understand what reverberation is and how it can be used to determine optimal conditions for communication and foster occupant well-being.
  2. Learn what Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) is and how it applies to surfaces and materials in a space.
  3. Describe how acoustic materials and the shape or configuration they are in can be used to create high values of NRC.
  4. Explain why NRC should really be thought of as an absorption per square foot number.
