The course investigates how acoustic design influences effective communication and occupant well-being. It highlights the role of reverberation and the Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) in creating optimal conditions.
This course is approved for GBCI CE hours, but is not available through Education @USGBC.

Objectives
- Understand what reverberation is and how it can be used to determine optimal conditions for communication and foster occupant well-being.
- Learn what Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) is and how it applies to surfaces and materials in a space.
- Describe how acoustic materials and the shape or configuration they are in can be used to create high values of NRC.
- Explain why NRC should really be thought of as an absorption per square foot number.
