About

The Kiewit Training and Innovation Center is the central collaboration hub for Kiewit’s national and international employees to share knowledge, best practices, and experiences with other employees across the company. The LEED Silver building combines the best practices of higher education and corporate office strategies into a truly unique synergy of uses. Some of the sustainable features include the utilization of a phase change material in strategic areas of the building that helps offset peak heating and cooling loads, utilization of reclaimed wood that was salvaged from an existing building near their current headquarters, as well as extensive daylighting and views strategies to connect the building users back to the urban fabric.

Objectives

  1. Understand how phase change material supports offsetting peak heating and cooling.
  2. Learn about challenges of brownfield redevelopment.
  3. Be able to discuss how features like daylighting and air quality improve occupant experience.
  4. Discuss the different opportunities and challenges in the LEED Silver process for the Kiewit Training & Innovation Center.
