LEED® v4 Building Policy Credits

This course will explore several building policy related credits, and the interconnectedness of some of these credits amongst several rating systems – LEED v4 BD+C, LEED v4 O+M and LEED v4 Core and Shell. The credits that will be discussed include: Materials and Resources prerequisite (MRp) – Storage and Collection of Recyclables; Sustainable Sites credit (SSc) – Tenant Design and Construction Guidelines; and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQp) – Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control. Participants will also consider what makes a good building policy, what the requirements are for tenant fit-up guidelines, as well as explore some common errors and issues associated with the credits discussed in this course.

This course is approved for GBCI CE hours, but is not available through Education @USGBC.

Objectives

  1. Identify issues concerning the operation and maintenance of buildings and how they affect MRp – Storage and collection of recyclables and other related credits and perquisites in the LEED v4 BD+C and Core and Shell rating systems.
  2. Describe what makes a good building policy and explain the overlap and synergies with O+M credits.
  3. Identify the requirements of tenant fit-up guidelines in relation to the SSc Tenant Design and Construction Guidelines in the LEED v4 BD+C and Core and Shell rating systems.
  4. Explain the intent and requirements of the IEQp – Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control in the LEED v4 BD+C rating system.
  5. Identify common errors and issues, as well as relevant Interpretations.
