Today many environmental issues present significant challenges for society. Among these are climate change, growing quantities of waste materials, air pollution, and water pollution. Sustainability in Parking and Transportation will introduce steps that can be taken during the design, construction, and management phases that will lead to a more sustainable parking facility that meets the triple bottom line. It outlines basic and relevant frameworks that guide the industry to higher performing assets and greater sustainability. The course includes decisions, actions, and impacts on parking design, facilities, and operations based on IPI's Framework on Sustainability and the United States Green Building Council's Parksmart Standard.
