USGBC's thoughts are with those in the Carolinas.

This week, as we watch another potential natural weather disaster unfold, USGBC’s thoughts are with those in the Carolinas—especially our USGBC staff, volunteers, members and their loved ones.

In light of Hurricane Florence, we will be canceling our Carolinas Green Gala and Sustainable Business Awards next week and rescheduling it for a later time. Our main priority is the safety and comfort of everyone in the region, and we look forward to coming together in the near future to continue to inspire each other while celebrating the milestones and amazing work being done in the Carolinas. We will be in touch soon to share new event details with those who have already registered.

At USGBC we are committed to working with our local leaders when challenges strike and are emboldened to take our mission even further to a create greener, healthier, and most importantly, more resilient built environment. Together, we will work with you, our local community, to address whatever challenges we face.

Please stay safe this weekend.

The Carolinas Green Gala and Sustainable Business Awards returns to the Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday, September 20. The annual Green Gala is a celebration of local leaders in the green building movement and features a sit-down dinner, keynote speaker, silent auction and awards ceremony that members of the USGBC North Carolina and USGBC South Carolina communities will not want to miss.

Sustainable Business Awards

The Sustainable Business Awards presented at the gala highlight the people and projects that are transforming the built environment every day in North and South Carolina’s marketplace.

You can submit projects in five categories:

  • Innovative Project, Building Design and Construction
  • Innovative Project, Interior Design and Construction
  • Innovative Project, Existing Building Performance
  • Community Champion Project
  • Marquee Green Building

Attendees also get a voice, and will vote on all nominees during the gala to select the “People’s Choice” award.

Since we believe that every story about a green building is about people, two special awards will be given for exceptional volunteer leadership and to a Community Change Agent in the Carolinas. Don’t be shy—nominate yourself or someone you know who is deserving of this recognition.

Nominate people and projects for these awards by Friday, July 20.
