Join us Jan. 12-13 at First Lutheran Church in Albany, New York, to learn how to integrate environmentally responsible practices in places of worship. This boot camp is hosted by Lutherans Restoring Creation, Energy Star and USGBC New York Upstate.

Between 6 and 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, we'll gather for refreshments, to network and to worship as we share with one another why the work of caring for the Earth is a common goal of faith communities. Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, we'll learn about tools to encourage our communities of worship to integrate earth-keeping practices as a critical piece of the ethical foundation of our faith. From energy saving tools to share with facilities managers, to resources for preaching about political issues without getting partisan, to hand-on techniques to engage youth and practical examples of incorporating waste reduction in food sharing programs.

  • Hear from local area faith leaders, energy consultants, volunteers and community activists.
  • Get access to practical resources (human & published) which can bolster whatever ideas you have to empower an ethic of earth care in (and out of) your faith community.
  • Perfect for those who want to access to broader spiritual audiences but who do not know how to translate a passion for a social justice into specific actions from a house of worship.
  • Why “Boot Camp”?: We will leave as a cohort ready to keep ourselves accountable to our intentions and supportive of our efforts over the next 12 months!

This event is free but RSVPs are encouraged.
