Learn from the experts how Glenstone is seamlessly integrating art, architecture, and landscape into a fascinating space for museum-goers to enjoy.

About the museum

Located in the backyard of D.C. in Potomac, Maryland, Glenstone provides a unique experience to those who want to catch a glimpse of one of the world’s largest collections of post-World War II artwork.

Going even further, the museum has set out to make its mark in environmental stewardship.

Learn about the museum's landscaping efforts
Learn about the unique and innovative organic landscaping, reforestation, and water conservation initiatives that have been implemented as a means to enhance sustainability at Glenstone.

From 2013-2018 alone, Glenstone has planted over 7,000 native trees in addition to thousands of shrubs, grasses, and flowers to enhance its surrounding landscape and ecology.

Equally as impressive are the underground cisterns which reuse rainfall and runoff for landscaping purposes. These are just a few examples of how the organization is setting new standards in fulfilling their commitment to sustainability and the arts.

The Pavillions project

In addition to The Gallery, Glenstone’s original museum building, its new expansion project, The Pavillions, is set to open on Oct. 4. This new space features state of the art water filtration and HVAC systems, and will offer 50,000 square feet of exhibition space extensively illuminated by natural light. The central building encloses an organically maintained 18,000 sq. ft. water court that will house diverse plant life that you will experience from above and below.

Come join us on this unforgettable experience that will leave you refreshed and inspired!
