Volunteer with USGBC Hawaii for a Green Apple Day of Service Project at the University Laboratory School in Honolulu on Oct. 29, 2016.

The school's existing garden space serves as a focal point by drawing attention to the natural environment, enriching student understanding of place and culture, and promoting food and resource sustainability. This year's project will re-establish the garden as a place where students will be able to learn and test various ways of growing kalo, herbs, wake, laua'e, ti-leaves, and plumeria. In addition, the garden is a "Lighthouse School" of the International School Peace Gardens (ISPG).

Partner: Landscape Architect Jennifer Appel
