Join USGBC National Capital Region for our final GreenScene of 2017! We’re thrilled to host this evening networking event at The Pearl, a LEED Gold sustainable luxury apartment building in Silver Spring, Maryland. We’ll have light appetizers, beer, wine, and a crowd of 100 of your green building colleagues from across the DC metro area.

Are you a new member of USGBC National Capital Region? A current member looking for information on how to get involved? Join us before the GreenScene from 5-6 p.m. for a Member Orientation where you can learn about ongoing initiatives, upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities, and meet staff and members of our Market Leadership Advisory Board. You will have the opportunity to sign-up when registering for the GreenScene.

This event is free for members of USGBC National Capital Region, and $10 for nonmembers. Not yet a member? Learn about the benefits of membership.

The Pearl is located in downtown Silver Spring and is a short walk from the red line (Silver Spring Station), Marc Commuter Rail, and Metrobus, so no matter where you are coming from or how you travel our location is convenient for you! We hope to see you there!

About the Pearl

The Pearl is the first phase of a 20‐year master plan redevelopment that will reinvent the historic Blair community, which has been a cornerstone of Silver Spring, Maryland, since 1958. This all‐encompassing redevelopment will include office, retail, hotel, high‐rise residential units, interconnecting five acres of parks, playgrounds, dog parks, and much more. With access to a variety of public transportation options, The Blairs’ redevelopment is a model for transit‐oriented and smart‐growth development that connects the community, promotes business, and creates a 24/7 lifestyle.

The Pearl is a testament to sustainability. In an effort to take advantage of outdoor space, The Pearl has a 5,000-square-foot Urban Farm on site, offering fresh produce and healthy cooking demonstrations for residents. In addition, The Pearl is LEED Gold Certified with several innovative features that speak to the vision and well‐known sustainability leadership of The Tower Companies.

Sustainability highlights include daylight and views in over 90 percent of occupied spaces, 5,000 square feet of vegetated green roof, the first solar PV array uniquely integrated into a green roofing system in Montgomery County, micro bio-retention filters to reduce stormwater run-off, a secure and covered bike room with over 100 racks, electric vehicle charging stations, green lease guidelines as part of resident rules and regulations, a free composting program for residents, energy and water efficient appliances and fixtures, environmentally friendly building materials, and LEED EBOM policies for green cleaning, integrated pest management, and indoor air quality assessments.
