Stormwater runoff is a significant issue for all urban areas, including Omaha. It can carries pollution to our streams, rivers & lakes, causes stream degradation, and localized flooding if not properly managed.

Green infrastructure is a part of a good stormwater management approach that aims to manage stormwater where it lands. In addition to addressing the issues above, utilizing green infrastructure provides many economic, environmental, and social benefits for the community.

Join us for an in-classroom discussion and lunch, then step outside with us to tour the bioretention gardens and green roof onsite at Metropolitan Community College. Get a firsthand understanding of the Omaha Stormwater Program, summary of recent green infrastructure monitoring efforts, and touch on new projects going forward presented for USGBC Nebraska Flatwater by City of Omaha.
