Lunch and Learn: Improving the Student Experience

Governmental units with multiple existing facilities in Minnesota are seeking to reduce energy use as they upgrade and renovate their buildings. Minneapolis Public Schools is significantly reducing energy use while improving indoor environmental quality for their staff and students through a program of renovation and strategic additions to their existing facilities. This presentation will examine how the policies, planning, and budgeting have driven the design, construction, and operation of these renovated facilities.

Workshop: LEED Project Management

Successfully managing the LEED documentation process requires specific knowledge, tools and skills that are not covered in the LEED Reference Manual. This full-day workshop is based off of the LEED Project Management course that GreenStep developed and teaches through UC Berkeley Extension. It is designed for professionals who are somewhat familiar with the LEED rating system, but who are looking to go beyond the basics to gain a deeper understanding of the unique processes involved with managing a LEED project, including documenting several of the most common credits from start to finish.

<p>Advanced Energy Design Guides (AEDG) are a series of publications designed to provide recommendations for achieving energy savings over the minimum code requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1. This presentation gives a short overview of the guides and provides examples of recommendations, case studies, technologies, systems, and controls to reduce energy use by 50% or more (compared to ASHRAE 90.1-2004). Following this overview, the 50% Large Hospital AEDG is presented in significant detail.</p>
