Inquiry

Does a facility have to fully exhaust nonchemical solutions prior to incorporating least toxic herbicides into their IPM program or can a hybrid approach be applied? \n\nCan a project team use a pesticide or an herbicide that is not on the San Francisco Reduced Risk Pesticide list if the project team can substantiate the reduced risk or environmental benefits of the product? The 2009 San Francisco Reduced Risk Pesticide list details approved pesticide and herbicide products, but it is not an all-inclusive list:\n1.There are only two tier 3 herbicides listed within the San Francisco Reduced Risk Pesticide list. Depending upon the different types of weeds and noxious plants, this product may not be affective. \n2.There are other least toxic herbicides available that are not included within San Francisco\'s Reduced Risk Pesticide list. For example, there are several pesticide products that are not required to register with the US EPA, as the active ingredients have been determined to have minimal toxicity levels. \n
