Our New York City high-rise residential building will provide alternative fuel refueling stations for 3% of the total vehicle parking capacity. Our two-level, subsurface, 100-car (complying with minimum zoning requirements, but not exceeding them) garage is to be managed by a third party operator. Near the parking attendant\'s booth, 3 parking spaces are marked for recharging. (3) 120 V / 20 amp outlets are being installed for recharging here. This power allocation is appropriate for the latest generation of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs), such as the Global Electric Motor (GEM) and Th!nk cars which are road rated and absolutely appropriate for New York City travel. Electric Vehicles that require 240V power and charging station hardware are now essentially obsolete. To ensure all bases are covered, however, we are also installing the 240 V / 50 amp power outlets, without hardware, for such potential future charging if needed. \n\nIn addition, we are initiating a contract with the NYC Zipcar car-sharing program to provide a minimum of 3 hybrid vehicles on-site (We assume the required preferred parking locations are a non-issue in a third-party operated garage, such as ours, where vehicles are parked by attendants.) This implementation will provide a substantial reduction in the quantity of vehicles on the road (Estimates are, a single shared Zipcar could provide the transportation benefits of 7-10 individually owned standard vehicles.), and hybrid technology provides much greater efficiency than standard vehicles and minimizes pollution. Residents who may have otherwise opted to purchase a personal car will be able to use a Zipcar conveniently located in the building. Promoting the use of the Zipcars and the concept of car-sharing will be part of the building\'s environmental education program.\n\nProviding hybrid cars as a means toward earning this LEED credit is supported by LEED SS c4.3\'s 01.09.02 CIR Ruling,\n\n"
