Inquiry

District Chilled Water Loop In the near future, a district chilled water cooling loop will be installed near the building site. We propose to extend the condenser water supply/return risers underground and stub-out for future connection to this cooling loop. The economizer coils on the self-contained air handling units can then be used as chilled water coils for mechanical cooling and double as economizer coils utilizing the cooling towers when conditions permit. Using chilled water instead of condenser water during the hottest months (especially in Arizona) would substantially decrease the make-up water consumption of the cooling towers and the peak energy demand of the building. Will the system described above qualify as a Innovation in Design Credit?
