Inquiry

This measure involves utilizing natural ventilation with existing common exhaust shafts serving vertical blocks of rooms. These shafts would be tied to each room perhaps in the bathroom units. Natural ventilation allows airflow to be drawn out of the spaces using temperature, elevation and wind induced pressure differences between rooms and outside. The airflow needed could not be generated this way, much of the time. An exhaust fan would be used for each shaft when airflow is too low. The airflow would need to balance the ventilation air required for each space. Exhaust fan energy could be saved. Initial analysis is needed to determine whether this would generate enough airflow to offer significant savings. Can we receive an initial indication from the council on whether this measure is worth developing an alternative method of analysis for, that is, does the council agree there is a potential for eligible energy costs savings for these items?
