For the modernization of this historic government agency headquarters, we have calculated that we are reusing over 98% of the existing structure and shell, and as such earn 1 point for MRc1.1. In addition, we are reusing 21% of the non-shell elements. MRc1.2 requires 100% reuse of the shell, but none of the non-shell (50% of which is required by MRc1.3). Since we are reusing such a high percentage of the existing non-shell elements, in addition to nearly 100% of the existing shell, we feel that we are demonstrating equivalency with MRc1.2 and should be able to qualify for a total 2 points under Materials Credit 1 when fully documented.
