Inquiry
Our project involves a new college residence hall with a new parking garage. The two structures are not physically attached (they are separated by a walkway of approximately 25 feet), but they are both included as part of our project site. The parking garage has been sized to accommodate parking for two existing residence halls in addition to the new building, so that approximately one third to one half of the new parking is actually dedicated to our new building. Our question: Can we can pro-rate the energy use and material use of the parking garage based on the actual number of spaces dedicated to our building, even though the garage is included as part of our project site?
