Inquiry

We are assisting a university that is eager to obtain LEED certification for a new laboratory building. This laboratory will use equipment that requires water cooling. Currently, local and state regulations allow for the use of single-pass cooling, in which water is used to cool the equipment and discharged into the outgoing wastewater line. The project\'s MEP has designed a water-cooling loop that will allow the equipment to be cooled with chilled water that will pass through a heat exchanger and be re-circulated so that it is not being constantly pumped and discharged following only one pass. With this set up, water usage is reduced by over 30% and waste water output is reduced by over 50%. We want to confirm that this water savings is applicable to not only the WE Credit 3, but to the WE Credit 2 as well.
