Inquiry

We are building a 400,000 square foot building. We will provide part of the building\'s electricity from gas-fired microturbines that will be housed in an existing structure dedicated solely for that purpose, across the street from our building. In a few years, another building will be built on the site where the turbines are, and they will be relocated to another site . At that time, more turbines will be added to power the second building. But our turbines will only power our building, now and in the future. We would like to exclude the structure that houses our microturbines from the scope of our current LEED project, as it is a temporary structure and not a part of our building. We would of course be consistent across all credits. We request confirmation that by defining the LEED project scope to exclude the microturbine housing, we are still able to capture the benefits of those turbines for our EAc1 calcs (waste heat recapture, etc.), as they are a core component of our base building energy system and will remain so in the future.
