Inquiry

We have two projects, one multifamily highrise, the other a large institutional building, which have similar scenarios with different minor details. In both cases, the question is whether we can meet the intent of the MERV13 filter requirement in a building that has MERV13 filters on the central air handler units, but which also has smaller water source heat pump or fan coil units in the building that don\'t have MERV 13 filters. In the residential project, ventilation air is provided from the corridors and operable windows/doors to residential units. The air coming from the corridors is 100% outside air conditioned by the central air handling units equipped with MERV 13 filters. The water source heat pumps serving the residences do not have MERV 13 filters, nor do they introduce outside air into the building. In the institutional project, the central AHUs, which serve most of the building, have MERV 13 filters. Smaller fan coil units serve a few back-of-house areas such as the maintenance shop, shipping/receiving, maintenance office, and storage rooms. These fan coil units do not have MERV 13 filters, but they do introduce outside air. Please confirm, presuming we meet the rest of the credit requirements, that these projects can meet the intent of EQc3.
