My professional goal is to protect the environment and limit the impact of
Climate Change by working to develop sustainable, eco-friendly housing and
communities. Over the past 4+ years, I have used my communication, policy,
and research skills to advance this cause. I am particularly interested in
developing my communication skills to help educate and persuade the public to
support energy efficiency investments, conservation activities, and climate
policy. A Southern California native, my graduate studies at Duke University
brought me to the East Coast, where I've remained following my successful
appointment to a position in HUD through the prestigious Presidential
Management Fellows program in 2012.

Key professional and academic experiences have included:

• Drafting energy efficiency policy incentives for The Better Buildings
Challenge pilot program in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban

• Developing the communications strategy for the Better Buildings
Residential Program in the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

• Drafting a proposed biodiversity certification standard with Earthmind in
Geneva, Switzerland

• Leading monthly training sessions for citizen water monitoring teams as a
member of Surfrider San Diego's Blue Water Task force

• Conducting research on global energy trends and renewable energy markets
on behalf of a prominent Duke faculty member

• Investigating ways to quantify the ecosystem services supplied by
conservation land on behalf of the Nicholas Institute
