Amy Upton, AIA, LEED Fellow, LEED AP BD+C, has spent over 20 years at Grimm + Parker Architects balancing her roles as Project Manager and Principal on K-12 School, Recreation, Library, and University projects and as the firm’s Director of Sustainable Design. She has designed and been a part of public projects that strike a balance of inspiring and healthy design environments with budget, maintenance and operation concerns. Amy emphasizes collaborative design approaches to improve the environmental performance of the all of the firm’s projects and excels at remaining on the cutting edge of technologies and ideas related to sustainable schools. She recently worked on the two replacement Pre-K -8 NZE and LEED Platinum schools in Baltimore City, Holabird Academy and Graceland Park-O'Donnell Heights. She is active in her community and is always taking advantage of the opportunities she has to affect better educational environments for children, especially with captaining annual Green Apple Day of Service Events. A member of USGBC-NCR and MD for years, Amy has also participated in Greenbuild 2015 and 2023 Host Committees as well as an annual Reviewer of Greenbuild Session Proposals. Amy lives in Capitol Hill, DC with her family and works in DC, MD, and VA.
