A passionate advocate with over 20 years experience, recognized for the delivery of sustainable resilient communities, both public and private. Driven to provide performance based holistic solutions targeting the triple bottom line, Avneet's international experience shows focus on critical regionalism. She draws from vernacular architecture across the globe, responsive to its climatic, social and economic fabric. Designing to maintain the balance of a fragile ecological system for the 2400 acre Indian Naval Academy Ehzimala Kerala, engendered her passionate commitment to sustainability. In her current role, Avneet is responsible for the strategic integration of sustainability, resilience and regenerative design solutions in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, for the Buildings Infrastructure Americas, East Region. Her work includes developing innovative strategy to advocate and create stakeholder engagement for PlanBeyond 2.0; its ESG focus on energy, decarbonization, environmental stewardship, health and wellness, and social justice. In her role as Project Director with Sustainable Design Consulting, Avneet has spearheaded the sustainability process for a portfolio of 18 Million+ square feet/ $8 Billion+ budget, projects certified at high performance thresholds. She is experienced in master planning and design of diverse range of projects including neighborhoods, institutional, educational, and residential buildings.Her work includes - The Wharf, a 74 acre Mixed-use development located in the Southwest Waterfront area of DC; The 28 acre Pittsburgh Penguins redevelopment project in downtown Pittsburgh, PA; numerous Higher Ed and Secondary School facilities throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan area including Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School which broke the record for sustainability, achieving Platinum with the highest point score across the globe at the time of its certification; and large scale Multi-family Residential and Commercial Office developments. In addition, she has conducted numerous trainings & charrettes for municipalities & businesses. Avneet serves as- Chair on the USGBC NCR Market Leadership Advisory Board; IWBI Task Force for COVID 19; WELL Community Concept Advisory; SME for the development of LEED Neighborhood Development & WELL accreditation exams for the USGBC & the IWBI; and for development of various standards including WELL v2.
