David Kay, a senior associate and senior project architect in Perkins&Will’s
Washington, DC office, has been practicing architecture for over 30 years. He has
extensive experience with award-winning, high-end, special-use building and
commercial interiors projects. He is involved in all aspects of the planning and design process
including programming, strategic and master planning, design, documentation,
and construction administration. His current focus is on the reduction of embodied carbon in his projects.
David’s experience with LEED dates to his involvement with one of the first projects in the country to achieve certification under the LEED for Commercial Interiors Rating System Pilot Program (Silver Level). Since then, he has led the design and sustainability planning for LEED projects in all rating system versions from Pilot through v4, including multiple Platinum level certified LEED-CI projects.
David is a licensed architect in the District of Columbia. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture (5-year) from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and a Master of Architecture degree from the Sothern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles, California. David studied abroad at the Architectural Association in London.
