Derek has over 19 years environmental consultancy and project management
experiences in acoustic design and environmental impact assessments for
government projects, railway design and construction projects, planning and
lands applications for private developments. Derek, as a Project Director/
Manager handled over 300 government and private development projects and
conducted more than 500 technical assessments on environmental (air quality,
noise and acoustics, water quality, landscape and visual, cultural heritage,
waste management including landfill gas hazard, land contamination and
sediment quality assessment); sustainable building design (air ventilation and
microclimate study, daylight and overshadowing assessment; life cycle
costing/ analysis and acoustics); sewerage and drainage.

Derek has involved in several acoustic design projects for railway
developments, construction of government facilities, schools, hospitals,
private developments and studios. Also, he has experiences on noise control
design and applications on tackling the sound and vibration transmission
problems of the buildings.

Apart from acoustic design and environmental expertise, Derek has experiences
on the environmental monitoring and audit. He is currently the independent
consultant in one of the strategic landfills (WENT Landfill) looking after a
comprehensive EM&A programme and independent checking of liner system
construction and certification.
