Don Lee

Grand Rapids, MI

I'm a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids currently residing in Eastown. I have
worked and traveled abroad extensively, primarily in the Middle East. I have
been actively involved in the community as a former firefighter for the city
of Grand Rapids and Eastown Community Association board member. I hold a
Master’s of Science in Environmental Policy and Management from American
Public University with an emphasis in Sustainable Management.

For over 4 years, I worked in various environmental roles with the U.S. Dept.
of Defense in southwest Asia. As the Site Manager for a contract HazMat
Incident Response team, I lead initiatives to provide emergency spill
response and hazardous waste remediation services to contingency operations
bases, forward operations bases and patrol bases throughout Iraq and Provide
Hazardous Communications training to Military personnel and local nationals.
As a Regional Environmental Manager, I acted as a technical consultant in
capital improvements and contract mechanisms to support waste management and
environmental compliance in combat contingency environments in Iraq and
Afghanistan. Responsibilities included research, planning and supporting the
development, procurement and implementation of infrastructure and facility
improvements to ensure the environmentally responsible presence of US forces
in southwest Asia.

I have approximately 10 years of home renovation and property management
experience and recently segued that into a small business providing
affordable renovation and repair services for homeowners and businesses in
Grand Rapids. Through that, I came to work for Bazzani Associates as a
Project Superintendent coordinating all phases of renovation and construction
and ensuring compliance with LEED procedures and methodology.
