Fleming Roberts

Washington, DC

Fleming Roberts, a LEED Green Associate, has been with USGBC since 2012,
first serving as a key member of the Advocacy team by overseeing a variety of
functions to advance green building policy and advocacy initiatives. Now
Fleming manages external stakeholder relations, interdepartmental projects,
and strategic planning and communications for the Marketing and
Communications Team. In 2014 she co-created and launched an initiative within
USGBC to empower and engage young women as the next generation of green
building experts, business leaders and policy leaders. Bringing Up Girls
(BUG) pairs girls with mentors to bring a community service project to life
as a Green Apple Day of Service project.

Prior to joining the USGBC family, Fleming worked as a Communications
Specialist at the Department of Energy's Building Technologies Office, where
she helped communicate success stories in the areas of emerging technologies,
building codes, appliance standards, and more. Before that, she was a member
of the
Policy Management Unit at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where she
helped to develop policies and launch a policy database.

Before her professional career began in Washington, D.C., Fleming attended
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a B.A. in
Political Science. She has also earned a Master of Arts degree in Corporate
Non-Profit Communication from Johns Hopkins University.

Fleming volunteers at the D.C. Rape Crisis Center and Miriam’s Kitchen, and
is a regular contender at USGBC’s Annual Greenbake competition.
