I hope to change the way that Hawaii develops by incorporating sustainability principles into projects at my company and actively volunteering on the USGBC Hawaii Market Leadership Advisory Board. I work at KYA Design Group, officially titled Sustainability Lead, but I am more of a jack of all trades. I have been lucky enough to work on the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Sustainable Management Plan, the University of Hawaii West Oahu Admin and Allied Health Facility, and the Kamehameha Schools Sustainability Bench-marking Initiative. I received my degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2010, in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Sustainable Development. I was previously with Hawaii Energy, the energy efficiency program for the State. After work and on weekends, you can find me at one of Oahu’s beaches or hiking trails. I think it’s important to get out of the office and enjoy the natural resources Hawaii is blessed with.
