John Deatrick

John manages a department with divisions devoted to maintenance and construction related to stormwater/water management facilities, roadways and other related infrastructure, all County building facilities, solid waste and recycling, St. Mary's Transit System, non-public school buses, and St. Mary's County Regional Airport.

John recently served as Project Executive of the Cincinnati Streetcar Project. Throughout his career, John has worked in all phases on a broad range of award winning civic improvement in both Washington, DC, and Cincinnati, Ohio and managed large local government agencies.

His areas of focus include bringing a sustainable approach to his work, including multi-modal transportation, asset management, green highways and mixed-use development. He values positive approaches to deliver social and environmental justice and diversity.

A Navy veteran, he is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states, a Certified Planner, a LEED AP BD+C, a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom, and a Certified Sustainability Professional. He has a BSCE from the University of Cincinnati and a BA majoring in Business/History from University of Maryland, European Division with additional classwork at The Catholic University of America.
