Kathleen O'Brien

Kathleen O’Brien, LEED AP, CSBA is a nationally recognized leader in the
field of sustainability, having been in the field as a writer, educator,
strategic planner, and project consultant for nearly 30 years. Kathleen has
been instrumental in developing the green building market in the Northwest,
through green building demonstration projects, programs, and policies, as
well as her work as Board Officer in the formative years of the Northwest
EcoBuilding Guild and the Cascadia GBC. She was awarded the Cascadia Fellow
in 2008, and in 2011, was awarded a "day"in her name by the Chief Executive
of King County. At O'Brien & Company, Inc which she founded in 1991, she
celebrated its 20th year by transferring ownership to three long time
principal-employees, and now enjoys the status of Founder-Special Project
Consultant. Her legacy project is The Emerge Leadership Project, a training
and mentoring project aimed at developing leadership skills in green building
advocates called to lead the transformation to a truly sustainable society. Kathleen is the author of the Northwest Green Home Primer, editor of the Building Capacity Blog, and is a monthly contributor to the Daily Journal of Commerce Green Building Blog.
