Laurene Hamilton

Atlanta, GA

Laurene Beverly Hamilton holds an undergraduate BS from Tennessee State University in Ag-Science and Business and a Masters in Sustainability and Env-Science from the University of Georgia. She has spent the last 15 years building a career in environmental education and advocacy as a Coordinator for the University of GA Extension Service, a County Recycling Manager for DeKalb County, an Executive Director for the non-profit Keep DeKalb Beautiful and as a Coordinator for Georgia State University in their Office of Sustainability.
She is most proud of her current position as a Recycling Analyst for Cox Enterprises, providing sustainable resource management for 300+ Cox locations and affiliates; and waste diversion guidance aimed at achieving the Cox corporate goal of sending zero waste to landfill by 2024.
Laurene serves on several boards such as the Georgia Recycling Coalition, the Solid Waste Association of North America, Atlanta Metro Chamber of Commerce, The Greening Youth Foundation and the US Green Building Council – Georgia Chapter. She is also a certified LEED AP and a Master Gardener. Laurene originally hails from New Jersey, but has nurtured her “Georgia twang” for the last twenty-six years.
