Marc Mondor

Marc Mondor takes pride in seeing potential for design innovation where others do not. He has over ten years of architecture experience and has been an integral part of Pittsburgh’s sustainability movement since the mid-1990s. Marc's consulting work has led to many important firsts, including the nation’s first LEED certified supermarket (for Giant Eagle), the first LEED Gold certified place of worship (for the Unitarian Universalist Community), the first LEED Commercial Interiors Gold office space (for the Coro Foundation) and the first LEED certified project in Africa (for HSBC Bank Egypt).

Marc works closely with clients such as Carnegie Mellon University, Dick's Sporting Goods, HSBC, IBM, Phipps Conservatory, the Pittsburgh Opera, Point Park University, Supervalu, Wegmans, WPXI, UPMC and several school districts on an ongoing basis. Prior to co-founding evolveEA, Marc was the Pittsburgh Green Building Alliance's Project Manager, where he consulted for organizations like Allegheny County, Community Loan Fund and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, and staffed and managed the Green Building Fund. Marc's consulting is backed by his experience as a designer with several architecture firms, managing commercial, office, residential, and institutional projects. He understands the process and pressure points for the successful implementation of sustainable design strategies.

Marc has lectured nationally and is a USGBC Faculty member. USGBC Faculty are the official instructors of USGBC's instructor-led workshops working with USGBC's education delivery partners. As USGBC Faculty, Marc is authorized to teach the following instructor-led workshops:

  • LEED 201: Core Concepts and Strategies
  • Healthcare 251: Understanding the LEED for Healthcare Rating System
  • Retail 251: Understanding the LEED for Retail Rating Systems

He has brought change to the region by serving on the boards of the Food Marketing Institute, Friendship Development Associates, the East End Growth Fund and Three Rivers Association for Sustainable Energy. Most recently was named head of the Committee on the Environment for AIA Pittsburgh’s Board of Directors. Marc received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo and studied sustainable design in Scandinavia. He is a Registered Architect and a LEED Accredited Professional.
