I began forming and pouring concrete in the early 1990’s, always fond of concrete as a building product and media for creativity. It offers durability and an unmatched level of performance; consequentially it is one of the most popular and widely used building materials of our day. The smooth cool texture provided by poured in place concrete provides a stark example of the devices holding up our built environment. For nearly 20 years I worked with master craftsman on a wide range of projects in residential and commercial construction, one day realizing that I had an affinity for the look of cut, ground and exposed concrete. The beauty revealed by grinding off or cutting into concrete, exposing the aggregate within is the inspiration of this project.
In 2005 Markus first began to develop ideas of cutting unwanted concrete into pavers and other landscaping products. He began to develop his vision of the products, the textures, and colors possible. Notably I was surprised that there are no concrete landscaping products with large aggregate exposed in this way.

I put my “Life Work” into action in 2011 and began Concrete Newthink, a business that works with recycled concrete. We make pavers and steps from unwanted concrete, retaining wall and landscaping blocks, planter boxes, all made from recycled concrete, finises are available with rich stains, custom textures, and all shapes and sizes. I designed the machines that would process the recycled concrete and in 2012 filed Concrete Newthink’s first patent.
