Mary Alcaraz

Mary Alcaraz, PE, LC, CEM, LEED BD+C is a senior project manager, electrical engineer, lighting designer, and energy manager with The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Mary is a past Board Member ofthe Delaware Valley Green Building Council, and the current Chair for theGreenbuild 2013 Offsite Educational Tours committee. Mary is also a Board Member of the Designing Futures Foundation for the Charter High School forArchitecture and Design in Philadelphia and a Board Member of theIlluminating Engineering Society’s Philadelphia Section. Mary’s expertise
in energy management and infrastructure upgrades provide leadership in Master
Planning for Campus and Healthcare Facilities.
Mary’s presentations have included: “Energy Lighting Upgrades – from
Audit through Implementation”, Lightfair 2013; “Integrating Daylight in
Lighting Design”, Guangzhou International Lighting Technology Symposium,
2011; “6 Strategies for Energy Savings in Community Cancer Centers”, ASHE
Annual Conference 2011.
Mary’s recent lighting awards include: Three (3)
IES Illumination Awards, Award of Merit, 2013, for Bayhealth Medical Center,
Kent Campus Expansion, Andrew G. Truxel Library, Anne Arundle Community
College (LEED-NC Gold) and Pocono Medical Center Ambulatory Care Facility;
IES Illumination Awards, Award of Merit, 2012 for NS Long Island Jewish
Women’s Center Medical Surgery Unit (LEED CI-Gold); three (3) IES
Illumination Awards, Award of Merit, 2013 for Geisinger Hosptial for Advanced
Medicine (LEED-NC Silver), Skimore University Arthur Zankel Music Center, and
for the Drexel University Recreation Center (featured on one of the 2013
Greenbuild tours).
