    Nicholas holds a Bachelors degree from George Mason University for Environmental Sustainability Studies with a Minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Prior to joining USGBC, he worked in the GIS field using LiDAR based instruments to assist in Building Information Modeling (BIM) efforts for commercial building remodeling. Similarly, he carried out energy audits within the residential market. Nicholas Beaton began working at USGBC in 2019 as an Intern for the Global Market Development team.
    Nicholas extended his internship into a full time role with USGBC in January of 2020 as a Global Market Development Associate. In this role, he assisted in multiple projects to support the organization’s strategic goals, namely driving awareness and adoption of sustainable, healthy, equitable and resilient buildings, cities and communities. Nicholas' primary role on the Global Market Development team was to serve as an account manager for member organizations within the Contractors & Builders, as well as the Commercial Real Estate sectors. Additionally, while in this role, he managed the Global Market Development team's research efforts, as well as published quarterly research articles. Nicholas also worked with external teams and Market Transformation and Development regional leads to plan and execute executive meetings and events.
    In October of 2022, Nicholas earned his LEED Accredited Professional - Building Design and Construction credential, as well as transitioned from USGBC to GBCI to a Certification Associate role within the Operations team. Within his current role, he provides timely, accurate, and helpful support to LEED project teams and contributes to a positive customer experience for LEED users by providing prompt and professional customer service. Mainly, by overseeing and managing communications, project timelines, escalations, and cases of external contracted review teams and building working relationships with project reviewers.
    Overall, Nicholas is a has a keen understanding of the LEED rating system, and is committed to sustainability, conflict resolution, and team collaboration.
