Sandra Leibowitz is the founder, owner, and Managing Principal of SDC. Prior to this, Sandra served as Sustainable Design Specialist for three Washington, DC-area architecture and consulting firms as well as Co-director of the Solar Information Center at the University of Oregon, where she earned a Master of Architecture degree.

Sandra draws from her years of advanced experience with hundreds of sustainable design projects and dozens of organizational programs to serve institutions, building owners, design, construction and property management professionals with expert green building consulting and process management, customarily delivered with a high level of professionalism and responsiveness to client needs.

Sandra leads SDC’s team of experienced and credentialed professionals integrating green building design, construction, operations and maintenance concepts into commercial, institutional and multi-family residential projects of varying size and complexity. She has authored numerous articles and guidance documents and speaks frequently on a wide range of sustainable design and development topics.

Sandra recently served on the Steering Committee of Richmond Women in Design. She is also a past Director of the Society for American Military Engineers, Central Virginia Post, EarthCraft Virginia, and the James River Green Building Council and has served on the U.S. GSA’s Center for Facilities Management and Hardware Sustainable Solutions Team and the USGBC’s Education Steering Committee and Education Core Committee for Professional

Sandra has been honored by Green Building & Design Magazine (gb&d) with a Women in Sustainability Leadership Award, by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) as among the first class of LEED Fellows and by Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Richmond chapter as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Richmond Commercial Real Estate.
