Sharla Riead’s energy and environmental experience began with her first energy audit in 1979 and spans years of progression from working as an energy auditor through construction and installation of solar panels to directorships and management of energy conservation and consulting companies and culminates in her leadership of the Accurate Rater Network. The Accurate Rater Network is an organization with a focus on providing support, training, certification, quality assurance, and oversight for energy professionals across the country. Accurate Rater Network is the Kansas City area LEED for Homes Provider and rating, training and contractor education and qualification (CEQ) provider for the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET). Sharla is also a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Super Proctor and performs training and field proctoring for local BPI Test Centers.

Coming from a long line of women entrepreneurs, and with a strong social conscience and interest in alternative energy and energy conservation; Sharla started her company, performing on-site energy inspections and providing customers with punch-lists of improvements that could be made to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and lower their utility bills. For over three decades she has performed heat load calculations, residential energy diagnostics, solar and alternate energy design, energy conservation instruction, contracting and consulting. As a Certified Green Rater, HERS Rater, Building Analyst and Envelope Specialist, Sharla has assisted hundreds of homeowners with energy retrofit improvement analysis and design. As a Certified Home Energy Rater and Green Rater, Ms. Riead provides testing, certification, and program compliance services for national energy and environmental programs such as ENERGY STAR, NAHB Green Build, LEED for Homes, and Federal Energy Tax Credits.

In 2008 Sharla decided to share her building science expertise and expand the impact of her knowledge and abilities. She started the Accurate Rater Network and qualified her processes, programs and training to provide national certification, quality assurance and program oversight for the Building Performance Institute, the Residential Energy Services Network, and other national and local programs. As a training provider, her company also creates and provides online and classroom training and curriculum for green construction, sustainable technologies and energy and environmental courses.

Ms. Riead is a recognized leader in the fields of renewable energy, sustainable technology, energy efficiency and green construction.
