Steven Lewis

Steven Lewis assumed the leadership role at the Service, Trade, and Industry Center in 2006 and has expanded it to meet the varied training needs of employers at home and abroad. In 2010, Mr. Lewis took on the additional role of EcoCentro director. In that capacity, he successfully managed the $600,000 construction grant. Now that the new EcoCentro facility is nearing completion, his role is shifting to the implementation phase which involves community outreach and job skills training linked to urban sustainability.

He has extensive international experience in the field of occupational training for sustainable development. He also developed innovative grass-roots strategies for economic and social development. In addition to meeting specific local needs of industry, the center focuses on cross-cultural strategies that can be replicated within the Alamo Colleges service area as well as other parts of the world. He built upon his curriculum development and editing experience to collaborate in the production of workshops and courses that can be imparted face-to-face or via electronic media.

Mr. Lewis holds an M.A. degree in Adult Occupational Education from The George Washington University, Washington D.C. and a B.A. degree in English/Linguistics from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas. After graduating, he has held a sequence of increasingly responsible workforce training positions in Colombia, Iran, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
