Summer Minchew, LEED AP ID+C, O+M is Managing Partner and Senior Sustainability Consultant for Ecoimpact Consulting. Her expertise in sustainable design and construction is backed by 17 years of experience in green building rating systems, design guides, building product standards and certifications. Summer has dedicated her career, volunteer time and expertise to the advancement of sustainable building practices using the LEED rating system. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY As LEED Project Administrator, Summer manages the entire LEED process, from schematic design through construction and eventual certification award, providing critical strategic sustainability insight, practical technical advice, and thorough LEED documentation to each project team. Summer’s certified projects represent over 1.5 million sf of green building space demonstrating an exemplary ability to take a project from start to finish within multiple LEED rating systems. EDUCATION AND MENTORING Summer has exhibited extraordinary commitment to expanding the reach of her work. As a LEEDUser Expert since 2016, Summer is one of 64 carefully selected LEED Rating System experts who have been asked to provide guidance and insight to the broader community of building professionals pursuing LEED certification. Summer is a member of BuildingGreen’s Sustainable Advising Leaders Forum and serves the Health Product Declaration Collaborative as a member of their Third-Party Verification Technical Subgroup. Summer is contributing author of Sustainable Commercial Interiors, Second Edition, published by Wiley and Sons in 2014, available internationally, and has been honored to speak at events nationwide on LEED and green building topics. LEADERSHIP, COMMITMENT, AND SERVICE Summer has held leadership roles within the USGBC Carolinas Community for almost a decade and is currently serving as Market Leadership Advisory Chair. Summer supports Education @USGBC as a ProReviewer and the ADVANCE Campaign for Social Equity. Summer also serves the City of Charlotte as a Strategic Energy Action Plan Buildings Working Group advisor. Awarded Most Inspiring Individual at Sustain Charlotte’s 2019 Charlotte Sustainability Awards and recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as a 2020 Women in Business Achievement and a 2018 40 under Forty award recipient; her career and civic achievements are numerous.
