Susan Pommerer

As an Associate and Historic Preservation Project Manager in the Washington, DC office of SmithGroupJJR, Susan specializes in the architecture and technical preservation of historic structures and landmarks. With over 14 years of experience, Susan has contributed significantly to a variety of projects and has lent her specialty in historic preservation and careful attention to details to the successful completion of many restoration and rehabilitation projects guided by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for the Treatment of Historic Properties. She has experience working with many federal and private clients, including management of an IDIQ contract with the National Park Service for architectural and engineering services. Susan has experience in managing and coordinating complete building assessments for clients such as the British Embassy in Washington, DC to provide preservation guidelines and planning for future growth, upgrades, and maintenance of existing facilities.

Susan is a graduate of the University of Florida, College of Design, Construction, and Planning, where she completed a Master of Architecture with an Interdisciplinary Concentration & Certificate in Historic Preservation. She is a licensed architect in Florida and Maryland, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT), a certification offered by the Construction Specifications Institute. As a member and active participate in the Association for Preservation Technology International (APTI) and the local DC Chapter, Susan has served as a presidential appointee for the APTI College of Fellows Jury Committee. She is currently serving as the Events Coordinator for the Alexandria, VA Committee of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America
