The Cleveland Foundation Headquarters

Last certified on:
Certification level: Gold

Project info

Size54,723 sq ft

The Cleveland Foundation, whose mission is to enhance the lives of all residents of Greater Cleveland through philanthropy and leadership, built a new headquarters building in Cleveland's midtown neighborhood. The building provides a community gathering and meeting space, offices for the foundation staff and serves as an iconic anchor to the reemerging neighborhood. 33% of the project energy use for the building is solar generated via PV covered parking across the street from the building.

The building is projected to save 53% in energy from ongoing operations based on the efficient HVAC and building envelope design (as compared to a baseline building) and renewables. This reflects a savings of 597,309 kg CO2e.

The building is built with mass-timber for the above grade structure, with a traditional concrete foundation. Based on a Building Life-Cycle Analysis, the mass timber contributes to 839,529 kg less embodied carbon (25% less) than a concrete and steel building.
