LEED Gold 2018

The CUB 2-3 building has been built in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Spain, with 7,830 cubic meters total gross floor area and was devoted to offices use. The new building “CUB 2 3” is located in business park of the Can Fatjó (Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain), which is an area with growth oriented to business centers in recent years. The building has four floors and two facades, the main at AP-7.
This project has exceeded various goals they set for themselves to ensure its sustainability, among these are:

  • LEED certification
  • CUBS 2 - 3 a double building certified Gold in LEED v4 ID+C and LEED v4 CI

Performing energy modeling

The "Energy Modeling" is a standard practice for construction projects in Spain, but the requirements in LEED exceed the standard, so LEED is harder because it must meet the prerequisites: Minimum Energy Performance, Minimum Indoor Air Quality Performance, and the Optimize Energy Performance credit. Even so, the project saves around 17 percent of energy using renewable energy production, efficient lighting equipment, air conditioning equipment, etc. The renewable energy production achieved the maximum possible points.

Reducing water consumption

The project team has selected the lowest possible consumptions fixtures and fittings thereby saving 51.05 plus percent of water.

Indoor environmental quality

Mapfre has invested in the design of high qualities in interiors to benefit its workers.
The prevention plan for indoor air was carried out and applied during the construction and later, laboratory tests were carried out to confirm the quality of this.
They also invested in the study of the credits: Daylight and Quality views.
