R&D Center raises awareness on Sustainability whilst rising competitiveness on the latest Renewable and innovative technologies. The main components of the development consist of an R&D Laboratory which is a practical laboratory space for testing facilities. The R&D center aims to promote Sustainability in energy supply, diverse energy sources, and creating a business environment that encourages innovation. It builds a knowledge-based economy by improving efficiency standards and supporting Renewable Energy initiatives. The Centre will contribute to strengthening Research and Development (R&D) in Renewable Energy, clean technologies, and Sustainability related initiatives. The building obtained the LEED Platinum Certification, which is the highest certification level. 13% of the energy is provided by on-site Renewable Energy that includes Solar Photovoltaic Panels as well as Building Integrated Photovoltaic Cells known as BIPV, with a total energy saving of 25% of the total building. The building is made up of 49% regional material by cost, 31% recycled content, and 100% Forest Stewardship Council FSC certified wood. 51% of indoor water usage has been reduced by using efficient fixtures, and around 52% of potable water that is used for flush fixtures has been reduced.
