Laguna Clothing at Dodballapura, Bengaluru has demonstrated global excellence and added to the growing list of Certified Green Buildings in the Bengaluru region. With an excellent score of 81 out of the available 100 points and a perfect 100% score in the waste performance; Laguna will stand among the regional trendsetters in incorporating sustainability related features in its factories.
Laguna follows fully organic, drought tolerant and low maintenance landscaping practices. The factory has reduced heat islands through the use of high reflective roofing materials along with over 30% green cover. The irrigation needs for this landscape are being fulfilled through an automated system that utilizes treated wastewater. All housekeeping is done using certified green cleaners only.
The factory is a zero-landfill facility and has achieved one of the lowest waste footprints per shirt manufactured with some of the most robust waste segregation, reuse, recycle and upcycle systems in place. All garden waste is composted, and food waste is sent to local piggeries for animal feed. All procurement policies have been updated to ensure environmental performance of products is given highest priority. Laguna has even crafted a breakout space utilizing salvaged materials, following the concept of utilizing waste for decorative purposes.
An ASHRAE Level 3 Energy Audit was conducted to identify all areas of energy conservation potential. The Installed 425 KW On Site Solar Energy caters to over 60% of the building energy demand. A large-scale lighting and equipment upgrade was conducted to ensure the building is in the top 12% energy efficiency among LEED certified buildings worldwide. Only Bio-based agricultural waste is used as fuel for operating the boilers.
Laguna Clothing's Dodballapur plant is run through the highest standards of green operations. These are third party reviewed, tested and certified by the US Green Building Council and is benchmarked with other LEED certified buildings around the world. The project team has provisioned the following green features of the project:
