LEED BD+C: Homes v3 - LEED 2008

Milovic Residence

141 Camellia Lane
Lafayette, CA 94549
United States

LEED Platinum 2016

The Milovic Residence was finished in late 2014 as a single family home, with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms, located in the hills above Lafayette, California. The main objective was to create a house that functions well for a family of four and to minimize its impact on environment. To that end LEED Platinum, the highest rating offered on the LEED for Homes program, was pursued. The homeowners felt that the additional effort pays tribute to and will protect the naturally oak covered beauty of the area they fell in love with.

The home's design objective is to minimize the disruption to the natural setting whenever possible. The house was designed to be of modest size with four bedrooms and very minimal visible landscaping. The house incorporate a number of novel green technologies, such as rainwater catchment, an airtight building envelope using SIP panels, solar panels, recycled decking, high SRI roof, natural landscaping, sealed crawlspace and attic, and many other green features. The house achieved Platinum status and as predicted is performing far above even a normal efficient home.
